AMELIA, Ohio — The Clermont County Public Library’s Amelia branch is launching a monthly book cart at two West Clermont Local School District elementary schools, letting students check out library titles during their own lunch period.
Amelia librarians will set up at Holly Hill Elementary on the first Wednesday of each month and at Merwin Elementary on the second Wednesday, according to the library. The first stops are scheduled for Oct. 7 at Holly Hill and Oct. 14 at Merwin.

To take part, students need a 3 For Me card, a library card designed specifically for school-age children. The card gives students access to the library’s print and digital collections and lets them check out up to three items at a time, according to the library. Unlike a standard library card, 3 For Me accounts carry no late fines, so a book returned a few days late won’t rack up fees or block further checkouts.
The library issues the cards in two tiers: a youth card for children up to age 11, with access to picture books, juvenile fiction and children’s eBooks, and a teen card for ages 12 to 17 with broader access to young adult titles. Students who attend school can get their card through their homeroom teacher, while children learning at home can pick one up at their local branch, according to the library.
Holly Hill and Merwin are among seven elementary schools in the West Clermont Local School District, which also includes Amelia, Clough Pike, Summerside and Willowville elementary schools. The library’s Amelia branch, at 58 Maple St., is one of several Clermont County Public Library locations that partner with area schools to put books directly in students’ hands during the school day.
Parents can learn more about signing up for a 3 For Me card through the library’s website.
