MIAMI TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A Miami Township police detective received an investigative excellence award Tuesday from Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Crime Stoppers for building the case that put a man behind bars for 80 years on charges of sexually abusing three children.

Detective Kuhn was honored at the organization’s annual awards breakfast for his “in-depth investigation” of Richard Hauke, who was convicted of sex-related crimes involving three minors, the Miami Township Police Department said in a Facebook post announcing the award.

Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Crime Stoppers has operated since 1979, helping police across the Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and Southeastern Indiana region generate anonymous tips on unsolved crimes in exchange for cash rewards of up to $2,500. Each October, the nonprofit recognizes law enforcement officers, media partners and volunteers who went “above and beyond” to help solve crimes and arrest offenders.
