MILFORD, Ohio — The Milford Planning Commission will meet Tuesday at 6 p.m. in City Council Chambers, where members are set to elect officers, hold a work session on the city’s ongoing Zoning Code Update Project and revisit a tabled request to open a car wash on Lila Avenue.
Commissioners will take up old business first: a conditional use request from Express Wash Concepts to operate an automotive wash establishment at 840 Lila Avenue. The item remains tabled and will not come up for a vote until the commission’s November meeting, according to the agenda posted by the city.
Express Wash Concepts, headquartered in Etna, Ohio, is the parent company of five express car wash brands — Moo Moo Express Car Wash, Flying Ace Express Car Wash, Clean Express Auto Wash, Green Clean Express Auto Wash and Bee Clean Express Car Wash. The company operates more than 75 locations and employs over 950 people across Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Virginia, according to the company.
After old business, the commission will hold a work session on the Zoning Code Update Project, a broader effort to rewrite Milford’s zoning ordinance and map. The project traces back to the city’s 2017 comprehensive plan, which recommended revisions to modernize the zoning code, according to the city. Its scope includes reformatting the code for clarity, streamlining development review procedures, updating use and signage regulations, strengthening natural resource protection standards and ensuring the rewritten code conforms with state and federal law, the city said. The city has sought public input through a survey and public meetings, including an initial session held in April 2023.
Tuesday’s meeting will also include the election of commission officers, according to the agenda. The commission will also approve minutes from its Sept. 8 meeting.
The meeting is open to the public and will be held in City Council Chambers at 745 Center St.
