BATAVIA, Ohio — Sheriff Christopher Stratton administered the oath of office Monday to Deputy Adam Miller, the newest sworn member of the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office.
Miller is a familiar face inside the agency. He worked as a corrections officer in the county jail for the past three years before completing his training at the Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy, the sheriff’s office said in announcing the July 13 ceremony.
Photographs released by the office show Stratton administering the oath in his office as Miller’s family looked on, a small gathering that ended with handshakes and photos alongside the new deputy.
The promotion continues a common career path in county law enforcement, where corrections officers who complete a state peace officer academy can move from the jail to sworn road duty.
Stratton, who began his own career with the agency in 1993 in its Court Services Unit and rose to chief deputy in 2017, took office as sheriff in January 2025 after winning election the previous fall. He succeeded retired Sheriff Robert S. Leahy.
“Please join us in congratulating Deputy Miller!” the office said in its announcement.
