PIERCE TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Pierce Township is pointing residents to a new set of resources for clearing away tree limbs and other debris left behind by recent storms that swept through the community.
“Cleaning up after the storms?” the township asked in a social media post, directing residents to a page of cleanup information compiled by its service department.
The service department clears debris that affects public rights-of-way along township roads, but cleanup on private property is left to residents, according to the township. For bundled brush and yard waste, residents can use their regular Rumpke collection service as long as each bundle is no longer than 4 feet, no wider than 2 feet and weighs no more than 50 pounds, the township said.
Residents with larger piles of storm debris can take it to one of eight regional composting and mulching facilities the township listed as options, including Auxier Trucking, Grailville Composting, Bzak Landscaping, Hotel Trucking, Irvine Wood Recovery and Evans Landscaping, along with a facility in the village of West Union. The township said residents should contact each site directly to learn its specific drop-off procedures.
The storms also downed trees and limbs across Pierce Preserve & Trails, prompting the township to close the park while crews finish clearing roads before turning to trail cleanup.
