BATAVIA, Ohio — The Clermont County Sheriff’s Office will host its annual National Night Out celebration Aug. 4 at the Batavia Township Community Center, offering free food, games and a chance for residents to meet the deputies, K-9s and specialty units who patrol their neighborhoods.
The event runs from 6 to 9 p.m., rain or shine, at 1535 Clough Pike in Batavia, the sheriff’s office said in a post. Admission and all activities are free, including food, drinks, music, basketball and raffle baskets.
Deputies from the sheriff’s office K-9 unit, dive team and Special Response Team, along with Central Joint Fire and EMS, are scheduled to attend, according to the sheriff’s office.
National Night Out began in 1984 as a program of the National Association of Town Watch, growing from about 2.5 million participants in 400 communities that first year to tens of millions of neighbors in more than 16,000 communities nationwide today. The event is held annually on the first Tuesday in August in most states, pairing law enforcement agencies with the neighborhoods they serve to build relationships and promote crime prevention.
Sheriff Christopher Stratton, who has led the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office since 2023, began his career with the department in 1993 as a deputy and has served in the K-9 unit, SWAT team and as chief deputy before being elected sheriff.
