STONELICK TOWNSHIP, Ohio — The Stonelick Township Fire Department is about halfway through refurbishing two of its fire engines, with crews hoping to have both trucks back in service by November, the department said in a Facebook post.
Engine 5 and Engine 6 are being rebuilt by Brindlee Mountain Fire Apparatus, a fire apparatus refurbishment company based in Union Grove, Alabama, according to the department.
Mechanics have replaced all of Engine 5’s corroded electrical breakers and fuses, along with its drains, tie rod ends, u-joints and seatbelts, the department said. Replacement of the truck’s air lines is about 90% complete, and crews have disassembled and cleaned the transfer case, according to the post.
Engine 6 is at the engine shop, where crews are preparing to replace its motor and transmission and repair and refurbish its radiator, the department said. Once that work is finished, the truck will be prepped for paint, according to the post.
The department said it will send someone to check on Engine 6’s progress once the truck returns from the engine shop, and will keep posting updates on both engines as it hears from Brindlee Mountain.
Stonelick Township Fire & Rescue was formed May 1, 2006, from the former Owensville Fire Department and now operates two stations covering the township, according to the department. It provides round-the-clock fire and paramedic service through a combination of career firefighter/EMT-paramedics and volunteers.
