MIAMI TOWNSHIP, Ohio — The Clermont County Public Library’s Miami Township Branch and the Miami Township Recreation Department are teaming up for a free ’80s-themed celebration Aug. 8, pairing an afternoon Pac-Man party at the library with an evening concert at Community Park.
The library said in a Facebook post that the party begins at 3 p.m. Saturday with crafts, snacks and life-sized arcade-style games built around the video game Pac-Man. Afterward, families can walk across Buckwheat Road to Community Park for a free ’80s concert featuring the band 1.21 Gigawatts, held as part of the township’s America 250 celebration.
The concert is one of numerous events planned across Ohio this year as communities mark America 250, the national commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence’s signing on July 4, 1776. The Ohio General Assembly created the America 250-Ohio Commission to plan, encourage and coordinate local observances of the anniversary statewide, according to the Ohio History Connection.
The library asked parents in its post to register children for the Pac-Man party in advance through the library’s website.
Community Park, a 17-acre township park on Buckwheat Road, includes a Performance Pavilion and amphitheater that hosts the township’s annual Summer Concert Series, along with tennis and pickleball courts, a disc golf course, a playground and walking trails, according to Miami Township’s website. The library branch, at 5920 Buckwheat Road in Milford, sits across the street from the park.
