BATAVIA, Ohio — Batavia Township crews were back out Wednesday morning clearing debris from roadways left by this week’s severe storms, the township said in a Facebook post.
The township said service crews would work throughout the day “to address debris in the roadways to ensure safety” following storms that swept the region and knocked out power to roughly 40,000 Duke Energy customers across Clermont County, according to the utility.
Power remained out at the Batavia Township Community Center as of Wednesday morning, though staff there could still receive phone messages, the township said. Residents with storm-related issues or concerns were asked to call 513-732-3888, extensions 7 or 9, and leave a message.
Electricity had been restored to the western side of the village of Batavia, including the areas around the Dollar General, the post office and the Marathon gas station, as well as near Bach Buxton Road, according to the township.
The outages followed Tuesday’s severe thunderstorms, which snapped trees and limbs across Clermont County and prompted road closures, a shelter opening in Goshen Township and the cancellation of Batavia’s Music on Main concert. Duke Energy has said full restoration across the region could take 24 hours or longer.
