BATAVIA, Ohio — Clermont Northeastern Local Schools will stay closed through Thursday as power remains out at the district’s main campus and crews continue clearing storm debris left by Tuesday’s severe thunderstorms, the district said.
The CNE campus was closed Wednesday, Aug. 12, with all athletics and other activities canceled for the day, and will remain closed Thursday, Aug. 13, according to a district Facebook post. Power is out at the district’s Hutchinson Road campus, and local crews are still working to clear trees and other debris from district roads, the district said.
The closures also give staff additional time to prepare for the new school year after the storms interrupted the district’s final two days of professional development and back-to-school preparation, according to the district.
Tuesday’s storms swept across Clermont County and knocked out power to roughly 40,000 Duke Energy customers countywide, with crews in several townships still clearing downed trees and debris from roads this week.
“We thank you ahead of time for your patience and understanding,” the district said, adding that further updates would be provided “as soon as we can.”
