BETHEL, Ohio — A semi-truck driver was trapped inside the vehicle after a highway crash brought down power lines shortly before noon Wednesday, closing a stretch of Bethel-New Richmond Road.
Crews were dispatched around noon to the area of Bethel-New Richmond Road near Sugar Tree Road for a crash described as a high-velocity impact involving a semi. Units reported the truck came to rest upright but blocking the roadway, with downed power lines draped across the vehicle.
A medical helicopter was placed on standby but was later told to stand down because of weather. Crews worked to free the driver, and the driver had been extricated and was out of the vehicle a short time later.
The road remained closed for an undetermined amount of time while crews worked to clear the downed lines. No information on the driver’s condition was available.
