BATAVIA, Ohio — A Clermont County sheriff’s deputy was honored by Batavia Township trustees Tuesday night for his service to the community, as the township also welcomed his new K9 partner and introduced the deputy who will take his place on township patrol.
Deputy Dylan Bailey received a Certificate of Recognition from the Batavia Township Board of Trustees during the board’s regular meeting, the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post. Bailey was one of the deputies assigned to patrol Batavia Township under the township’s contract with the sheriff’s office, which places eight full-time deputies in the township, operating out of a sub-station on Clough Pike as well as the sheriff’s headquarters, according to the township.

Bailey is moving on to a new assignment alongside Annie, a bloodhound puppy who joined the sheriff’s office in late August. Annie’s purchase was funded by the Deputy Bill Brewer 2055 Foundation, a nonprofit established in memory of Detective William “Bill” Brewer Jr., a Clermont County sheriff’s deputy who was fatally shot Feb. 2, 2019, while responding to a standoff in Pierce Township. The foundation, led by Brewer’s widow, Jamie Brewer, supports local police and fire agencies and schools across the region.
Sheriff Christopher Stratton, who took office in 2023, has expanded the sheriff’s canine ranks since then, including a narcotics-detection K9 program at the county jail. Stratton previously served in the sheriff’s office K-9 unit on road patrol earlier in a law enforcement career that began in 1993.

Deputy Canter also attended Tuesday’s trustees meeting and was introduced as Bailey’s replacement on the Batavia Township patrol. The sheriff’s office operates a neighborhood deputies program across 10 townships in the county, assigning deputies as community contacts in addition to their regular patrol duties.
