BATAVIA, Ohio — Clermont County commissioners are scheduled to authorize a nearly $2 million sole-source contract with Axon Enterprises for sheriff’s office body-worn cameras, award bids on two building replacement projects and hold a public hearing on a contested Washington Township road vacation when they meet Wednesday, Oct. 7.
The regular session is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at the commissioners’ office in Batavia, according to the board’s draft agenda.
Commissioners would execute a service agreement with Axon Enterprises Inc., of Scottsdale, Arizona, for law enforcement body-worn cameras and licenses at the sheriff’s office and jail, at a total cost of $1,959,210.36 to be paid in five annual installments of roughly $391,842 from 2027 through 2031, according to the agenda. The agreement names Axon as a sole-source provider and is contingent on the adoption of annual county budgets for those years.
The board is also set to award bids for two facility replacement projects. Triton Services LLC, of Mason, would receive a $1,266,000 contract to replace the air handler at the Adult Detention Center, with work to be completed within 300 days of a notice to proceed, the agenda said. Separately, Peck, Hanniford & Briggs, of Cincinnati, would be awarded a $295,466 contract to replace the boiler at the Clermont County Common Pleas Court building under the same timeline.
Commissioners scheduled an 11 a.m. public hearing on the proposed vacation of a portion of Big Indian Road (T-33) in Washington Township, following a site viewing held Oct. 6. The board voted 2-1 in July to advance the township trustees’ vacation request over the objection of a commissioner who wanted to wait for a related court appeal to be resolved, according to the county’s prior agendas.
Other business on the agenda includes a professional services contract with Motz Consulting Engineers, of Cincinnati, not to exceed $64,500, for HVAC replacement design at the Clermont County Probate Court, and a $148,073 engineering design contract with Clear Consulting Inc., of Cincinnati, for the Beechmont Drive area water main replacement project in Union Township.
The board would also execute an addendum with SAFEbuilt Ohio LLC raising the cap on a building official services contract to $400,000 through June 23, 2027, and accept a permanent sewer easement from property owners John and Valerie Hartman for the Hartman Lane sewer upgrade project in Batavia Township, compensating the Hartmans $17,602.09 for the easement and related repairs.
Commissioners are scheduled to proclaim October 2026 as Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Clermont County and hear a presentation from Stephanie Shoe, the courts’ community advocate, and Tiffany Wilson of the YWCA Greater Cincinnati on domestic violence services and the House of Peace shelter. The board also plans to go into executive session to discuss the employment or compensation of public employees.
