BATAVIA, Ohio — The Clermont County Animal Shelter is looking for one home willing to take two dogs at once: Dee Dee and Dexter, a bonded pair the shelter says have grown so attached to each other that they need to be adopted together.
Dexter is about 3 years old and weighs 80 pounds. Dee Dee is at least 8 years old and weighs 44 pounds, according to the shelter. Staff describe the pair as unusually easygoing, saying in a Facebook post that caring for the two together is “honestly easier than caring for many single dogs” and that they get along well with other friendly dogs.
Dexter’s adoption fee has been sponsored, the shelter said, meaning the pair can be adopted together for $85 total rather than paying two separate fees.
The shelter, located at 4025 Filager Road in Batavia, operates as a public no-kill facility for stray, lost and neglected dogs and takes in roughly 800 dogs a year, according to Clermont County. It also offers a foster program for community members not ready for a permanent adoption. The shelter is open Tuesday through Friday from noon to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and is closed Sundays, Mondays and holidays.
