OWENSVILLE, Ohio — Clermont County residents will be able to drop off unwanted tires for free next month during a two-day tire collection event at the Clermont County Fairgrounds.
The event runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, and Saturday, Sept. 12, at the fairgrounds, with entry off state Route 132, the county said in a Facebook post. Residents can drop off up to 10 tires per vehicle, and the county asked that only residential tires be brought, not tires accumulated by businesses such as auto dealers, repair shops, trucking companies or junk haulers.
This year’s collection is fully funded by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, according to the Adams-Clermont Solid Waste District, which organizes the event. The district, which serves both Adams and Clermont counties, applies annually for tire amnesty funding through the Ohio EPA’s Recycle Ohio Community and Litter Grant program.
The district holds the collection each year because scrap tires are “not only unsightly, but can pose an environmental and potential health risk,” according to its website. Illegally dumped tires can collect standing water and become breeding grounds for mosquitoes, and large tire piles are a known fire hazard.
The Clermont County Fairgrounds has hosted the district’s tire amnesty days in previous years, including a September 2025 event. The district also holds a separate collection for Adams County residents.
