UNION TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Firefighters were dispatched to a house fire on Cardinal Drive on Tuesday morning, according to initial emergency radio traffic monitored by the Clermont Guardian.
Crews were sent to the 4600 block of Cardinal Drive shortly before noon for a reported structure fire with smoke showing from the front door of the residence, according to radio traffic. Multiple engines, medic units and a quint responded from Union Township and neighboring Anderson Township departments.
According to radio traffic, the homeowner arrived home and opened the front door when smoke began coming out. She removed two dogs from the residence and was advised to stay outside while crews arrived, radio traffic indicated.
The first arriving engine established command and reported a two-story, bi-level residential structure with a working fire showing from one side, according to radio traffic. Crews went in with an offensive, interior attack, and a chief later arrived on scene to take over command.
Units reported the fire knocked down and began overhaul operations, checking for remaining hot spots, according to radio traffic. Crews requested that Duke Energy and a representative from the county building department respond to the scene. Radio traffic also indicated at least one dog that had gotten loose during the incident was captured and returned to its owner.
No injuries were reported over the radio during the incident. Mutual aid units that had been staged nearby were released once the fire was under control, according to radio traffic.
