GOSHEN, Ohio — The Goshen Grub Bus will roll through Goshen Township neighborhoods for the last time this week, closing out the district’s free summer meal program for the season.
All of Goshen Local Schools’ summer meal services — the mobile bus route and the stationary site at Marr/Cook Elementary — will end Thursday, July 23, the district said in a Facebook post.
The bus will run its regular schedule Tuesday and Wednesday, then switch to a shortened route for its final day. According to the district, the bus is scheduled to stop at Woodville Gardens from 11 a.m. to 11:10 a.m., Green Acres from 11:15 a.m. to 11:25 a.m., Fay Gardens from 11:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., the football field at Jim Brown Stadium from noon to 12:25 p.m., Lakeshore from 12:35 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. and Meadowview from 12:55 p.m. to 1:15 p.m.
The bus and the Marr/Cook site are part of Goshen’s summer meal program, which falls under Ohio’s SUN Meals initiative — the state’s rebranded version of the federally funded Summer Food Service Program. The program, run through the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce with U.S. Department of Agriculture funding, allows any child age 1 through 18 to eat free at participating sites over the summer, regardless of family income or school enrollment.
The Grub Bus carries that program directly into neighborhoods, including several mobile home communities, and to the ballfield at Jim Brown Stadium, away from the district’s fixed meal site at Marr/Cook Elementary.
Goshen Local Schools thanked the community for “a terrific summer” in its announcement and said students will return to classrooms in August.
