GOSHEN, Ohio — Goshen Local Schools is moving this week’s Homecoming parade from Friday to Thursday because of a rain forecast, the district said in a Facebook post.
The parade will now step off at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, with floats lining up at Goshen High School at 5 p.m., the district said. The event had been scheduled for Friday, Oct. 2. “We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, however we would like to have a great event Thursday rather than a soggy event Friday,” the district said in its post.
Community groups signed up to participate in the parade will receive direct communication about the new day and time, according to the district.
The rest of Homecoming week is unaffected by the change, the district said. The Homecoming court will be introduced Thursday night during halftime of the varsity boys soccer game against Northwest, with the king and queen crowned at approximately 7:30 p.m. A traveling pep rally is still set for Friday morning, Oct. 2, and the football team hosts New Richmond that evening at 7 p.m., where the court will be recognized again at halftime rain or shine and float competition winners will be announced. The Homecoming dance follows Saturday, Oct. 3, from 8 to 11 p.m. at the stadium, moving indoors to the high school gym if conditions are wet.
Goshen High School, at 6707 Goshen Road, is the district’s only high school, with teams competing as the Warriors. Goshen Local Schools serves roughly 3,000 students in kindergarten through 12th grade across Goshen Township in Clermont County. Earlier this month, the district also moved the parade’s staging area and route to the high school campus, citing growth in the event.
