LOVELAND, Ohio — The city of Loveland is once again daring residents and business owners to out-decorate Clark Griswold, opening entries this week for its annual Griswold Christmas Light Contest.
The contest, run through the city’s Lovin’ Life Loveland events page, is open to residents and businesses located within Loveland’s corporate limits, the city said in a Facebook post. A Loveland mailing address alone does not guarantee eligibility, since several addresses with Loveland ZIP codes actually fall outside the city limits in neighboring townships.
Entries are being accepted now through Nov. 29, when judging begins, according to the contest page. Winners will be announced in each category and awarded prizes at the city’s Christmas Tree Lighting Festival on Dec. 5 in Historic Downtown Loveland.
The tree lighting festival, now in its sixth year, is hosted by the city and the Loveland-Symmes Firefighters Association. It centers on a more than 60-foot evergreen along the Little Miami Scenic Trail near West Loveland Avenue, strung with roughly 2,500 lights and 250 ornaments.
Residents can submit entries at lovelandoh.gov or lovinlifeloveland.com by following the Griswold Christmas Light Contest link, the city said.
