NEW RICHMOND, Ohio — The New Richmond Exempted Village School District Board of Education will hold a special work session Monday to take action on personnel matters, the district said in a social media post.
The meeting is set for 5 p.m. Monday at the district’s Central Office, 1135 Bethel-New Richmond Road, according to the notice. The district said the full agenda was posted to its BoardDocs page ahead of the session, and that action would be taken “for human resources purposes.”
The work session comes as the district continues to operate under financial strain tied to the early shutdown of the William H. Zimmer Power Station in nearby Moscow. The coal-fired plant, once one of the largest taxpayers supporting local schools, closed in May 2022 after owner Vistra Corp. accelerated its retirement by several years, cutting the district’s tax base.
Superintendent Paul Daniels, a Bowling Green State University graduate, was selected by the board in 2025 to lead the roughly 1,900-student district through that financial stretch. The district, which includes four schools serving students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, is based at the same Bethel-New Richmond Road campus where Monday’s meeting will be held.
Robert Wooten is serving as the board’s president for 2026, with Jonathan Zimmerman as vice president, according to the district.
