CLERMONT COUNTY, Ohio — The Clermont County Engineer’s Office closed nine roads across the county Wednesday because of damage from severe storms that swept the region this week.
The closures include Half Acre Road at Afton Drive, Monterey Road from U.S. 50 to Newtonsville-Hutchinson Road, Newtonsville-Hutchinson Road from U.S. 50 to Cedar Trace Golf Course, Stonelick-Williams Corner Road from Benton Road to Craver Road, Herold Road at 2519 Herold Road, Brushy Fork Road from U.S. 50 to Aluen Drive, McKeever Road at McKeever Schoolhouse Road, Twelve Mile Road at 1705 Twelve Mile Road, and Wards Corner Road near address 580, according to the engineer’s office.
County crews are actively assessing the damage and working to clear debris where possible, the engineer’s office said in a Facebook post. The office asked drivers to avoid the affected areas and not to drive around barricades.
The closures follow severe thunderstorms that struck Clermont County on Tuesday, snapping trees and limbs and knocking out power to roughly 40,000 Duke Energy customers countywide. The storms also toppled a tree across Concord-Hennings Mill Road in Williamsburg Township, prompted Goshen Township to open a storm shelter, and led Batavia to cancel its Music on Main concert.
The engineer’s office said it will provide updates as roads reopen.
