OWENSVILLE, Ohio — The village will host a free outdoor movie night at Gauche Park on Aug. 15, with a screening of “The Lego Movie 2” beginning at dusk, according to a flyer posted by Stonelick Township.
The event, dubbed “Owensville Movie in the Park,” is sponsored by the Owensville Beautification Committee. Admission and popcorn are free, and hot dogs, drinks, snacks and baked goods will be available for purchase, the township said.
The movie will be shown at Gauche Park, 410 S. Broadway St., a roughly 9-acre park at the center of the village that includes a disc golf course, playground, picnic areas and a walking trail. The park was created after Agnes Cecelia Schmidt Gauche donated the land to Owensville following her husband’s death. The Gauche house, built in 1867, once served as the boyhood home of Ohio Gov. John M. Pattison, who was born near Owensville and elected the state’s 43rd governor before dying in office in 1906. The house now operates as the Owensville Historical Museum.
