PIERCE TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Dakota Gullett was sworn in Aug. 3 as the newest officer with the Pierce Township Police Department, with township Trustee Allen Freeman administering the oath of office, according to the department.
Gullett was joined by his family as he took the oath, the department said in a Facebook post, calling it a memorable occasion for everyone in attendance. The department said Gullett is excited to begin serving township residents and welcomed him as its newest officer.
Freeman, who administered the oath, has served on the Pierce Township Board of Trustees since Jan. 1, 2016, and currently serves as its chair. He is a small-business owner whose consulting work has included the Banks riverfront development and Cincinnati Eastern Bypass projects, and he previously served as a district representative for U.S. Rep. Rob Portman. Freeman also represents Clermont County on the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority board.
The Pierce Township Police Department traces its roots to the 1950s, when it began with a single full-time constable. It has since grown into a full-service law enforcement agency operating around the clock across the township’s 23 square miles under a community-oriented policing model, according to the department.
Police Chief Paul Broxterman, who joined the department in 2022 after 33 years with the Cincinnati Police Department, including 16 years as a captain, was also on hand for the ceremony.
