BATAVIA, Ohio — UC Clermont College will host a fall Open House on Thursday, Oct. 8, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., giving campus tours and waiving its $50 application fee for anyone who applies at the event, the college said in a Facebook post.
Prospective students can RSVP for the event through a link the college shared on social media. The open house comes as UC Clermont, a regional college of the University of Cincinnati, continues a multiyear enrollment rebound that has bucked declining trends at many two-year colleges statewide.
UC Clermont opened in 1972 on 91 wooded acres in Batavia Township and now offers more than 60 associate, bachelor’s and certificate programs across six academic departments, according to the college. It operates as an open-access institution, admitting anyone with a high school diploma or its equivalent, and its tuition runs less than half the cost of many other Ohio colleges and universities.
The college posted its second-highest enrollment in its history this fall, with 3,503 students, up 5% from 3,336 a year earlier, according to the University of Cincinnati. More than 1,000 of those students were enrolled through College Credit Plus, which lets Ohio high schoolers earn college credit before graduation, and first-time, full-time student retention topped 70%.
“UC Clermont has always offered the value and quality of a UC degree at an affordable price,” Dean Jeff Bauer said in the University of Cincinnati announcement of the fall enrollment figures.
The college’s popular programs include business administration and management, health information technology and criminal justice, and students have full access to UC’s main Uptown campus libraries, clubs and athletic events. UC Clermont also fields NJCAA athletic teams as the Cougars and has added 13 HyFlex classrooms that let students attend courses in person or remotely.
