UNION TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Baldwin Road will close to through traffic for just over four weeks starting Aug. 17 while crews repair a landslide that has damaged the roadway, Union Township officials said.
The closure covers the stretch of Baldwin Road between 1437 and 1440 Baldwin Road and runs through Sept. 18, according to a township announcement. The Clermont County Engineer’s Office has published a detour map routing traffic around the closed section, the township said.
The repair is part of the county engineer’s 2024 Landslides Project, which also addresses embankment failures on Hopper Hill Road, Coombs Road and Moscow Cemetery Road elsewhere in Clermont County, according to the Clermont County Engineer’s Office. All four sites share the same underlying problem: an embankment failure that has narrowed the roadway for travelers.
The county engineer’s office applied for funding through the Ohio Public Works Commission in September 2023. The OPWC board approved the funding agreement in September 2024, and the county engineer executed the grant agreement that July, according to the engineer’s office.
Baldwin Road runs through Union Township, Clermont County’s most populous township, with an estimated population approaching 52,000. The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees: John Becker, Joe Dills and Michael Logue.
