BATAVIA, Ohio — Batavia Township said Wednesday that power and phone lines have been fully restored at its Community Center, even as crews prepare for one more day of hauling storm debris from township roads and Batavia Township Park.
Service crews were finishing the initial clearing of debris from township roadways Wednesday and plan to return Thursday, Aug. 13, to load the debris they have gathered and complete final cleanup, the township said in a Facebook post.
Several trees at Batavia Township Park sustained significant damage in the storm, according to the township. Officials said conditions there remain unsafe for a normal visit, and crews plan to be on-site Thursday to clear debris from the park grounds. Residents were asked to give the crews time and space to safely restore the property.
At the Community Center, power and phone lines that had gone down during the storm have been fully restored, and staff have returned to the office to assist residents, the township said.
Wednesday’s update follows several days of storm recovery work across the township, which was among the areas hit by severe thunderstorms that snapped trees and limbs, knocked out power to tens of thousands of Duke Energy customers and forced road closures across Clermont County.
