GOSHEN TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Goshen Township opened a storm shelter Tuesday at its administration and police building for residents needing safe refuge as severe thunderstorms moved through Clermont County, the township said in a social media post.
The shelter is located at the Goshen Township Administration & Police Department, 6757 Goshen Road, and is open to anyone seeking cover from the weather. The township asked that people leave pets at home, saying the shelter cannot accommodate animals.
The shelter opened as the National Weather Service placed Clermont County under a severe thunderstorm watch in effect until 8 p.m. and a flood watch extending into Wednesday morning. The weather service also issued a warning earlier in the day for south-central Clermont County, citing a storm capable of producing quarter-size hail.
The Goshen Township Police Department, based at the Goshen Road building, has served the township since 1971. The agency provides around-the-clock law enforcement to roughly 17,000 residents across the township’s 34 square miles and holds national accreditation, according to the department.
Chief Bob Rose, who has led the department since 2022, also serves as Goshen Township administrator and public safety director, a role in which he oversees the township’s fire and EMS, public works, and planning and zoning departments in addition to the police force, according to the township.
