GOSHEN TOWNSHIP, Ohio — The Goshen Township Board of Trustees will host a Halloween trick-or-treat event called Trucks and Treats on Oct. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fire Station 18, 1849 SR 28, the township said in a Facebook post.
The event will bring together police, fire and service department vehicles for children to view and take photos with, calls permitting, according to the trustees. Township fire, police and service personnel are expected to hand out candy alongside community volunteers.
Station 18 serves as the headquarters for Goshen Township Fire & EMS. The building was heavily damaged, with a partial roof collapse, when an EF-2 tornado packing winds up to 130 mph tore through Goshen Township in July 2022. The township secured roughly $2.5 million in state capital funding toward rebuilding the station, and a new, state-of-the-art Station 18 opened at the same SR 28 address in May 2026, according to the department. The station is staffed around the clock by a shift captain and four to five firefighter-paramedics and also serves as the base for the fire chief and deputy chief of operations.
Residents who want to set up a table and hand out candy at the event can contact Donna Rosic, a trustees’ office staff member, at [email protected], the township said.
The trustees asked attendees to park around the fire station but not in front of the fire and EMS bay doors at the front of the building, since crews may need to leave quickly to respond to a call. Visitors can also park at the Goshen Township administration building, 6757 Goshen Road, and walk over to Station 18; the station’s front bay doors will be closed for the event, so attendees should use the entrance at the back of the building.
The Goshen Township Board of Trustees — Chairman Shawn Mesler, Vice Chairman John Bricker and Trustee Teresa Stratton — oversees the township’s police, fire and service departments.
