MILFORD, Ohio — Several streets near Milford High School will close temporarily Friday evening as the school holds its homecoming parade, the Miami Township Police Department said.
The parade is set to begin at 5:25 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, at Mulberry Elementary School and travel along Buckwheat Road, Hunt Club Drive, Monassas Run Road, Deblin Drive and Wolfpen Pleasant Hill Road before finishing near Eagle Stadium on Eagles Way, according to the police department.
Drivers should expect temporary road closures and traffic delays along the route starting at 5:25 p.m., the department said in a social media post. Motorists in the area are encouraged to plan alternate routes or allow extra travel time that evening.
Homecoming is one of Milford High School’s biggest traditions each fall, drawing students, families and alumni to watch the procession of floats, bands and school groups make their way toward the football stadium. The parade kicks off a weekend of homecoming activities for the Milford Exempted Village Schools district, which includes the football game against Kings High School later that evening and a homecoming dance the following night.
Milford High School, located at One Eagles Way, is the district’s only high school and traces its roots to 1867, when voters established what was then known as Milford Union School. The school’s teams compete as the Eagles in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference, and its home field, Eagle Stadium, seats more than 5,200 fans.
The Miami Township Police Department, which patrols the township surrounding Milford, routinely assists with traffic control during school and community events along the parade route.
