NEW RICHMOND, Ohio — New Richmond Fire & EMS and the village’s police department will open their doors to the community Wednesday evening for a Safety Night Out, inviting families to tour emergency vehicles and meet local first responders.
The free event runs from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 7 at New Richmond Fire & EMS Station 37, 104 Market St., according to a Facebook post from the department.
Visitors can tour fire trucks and police cruisers, meet local officers and firefighters, and view safety equipment up close, the department said in its announcement. The evening will also feature games, music, free food and drinks, and goodie bags for children.
New Richmond Fire & EMS was established in 2006 to protect the village and part of neighboring Ohio Township, and it now also serves Pierce Township under contract, according to the department’s website. It operates two stations with five full-time employees, 12 part-time staff and 25 volunteers; nearly all paid staff and about a third of the volunteers hold dual certification as firefighters and emergency medical technicians.
The department’s community programs include CPR and first-aid classes, fireworks safety education, smoke alarm outreach, fire safety inspections and a cadet program for young people interested in the fire service, its website says.
