WAYNE TOWNSHIP, Ohio — No. 9 Road will close to through traffic for three days later this month while a contractor waterproofs and repaves the deck of a township bridge, the Clermont County Engineer’s Office said.
The closure is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. Aug. 18 and continue through Aug. 20, according to the engineer’s office. No. 9 Road will be shut between addresses 3660 and 3680, the site of Bridge No. T145-2.00, while crews install new waterproofing and pavement on the bridge deck.
A posted detour will route drivers around the closed span using Taylor Pike, state Route 133, Main Street, Old state Route 133, Lucas Road and Goodwin Road back to No. 9 Road, according to the map released by the engineer’s office. The route covers about 5.71 miles, or roughly 30,175 feet, the office said.
The Blanchester Local School District, which serves Wayne Township along with parts of Clinton, Brown and Warren counties, is the school system affected by the closure, the engineer’s office said.
Bridge deck maintenance projects like this one fall under the core duties of the county engineer, an elected office that Ohio law charges with designing, constructing and maintaining the county’s roads and bridges and inspecting every county bridge each year. The Clermont County Engineer’s Office oversees 387.2 centerline miles of county highways, 423 bridges and about 2,970 roadway culverts, according to the office.
The office asked drivers to follow posted detour signage and directed residents with questions to its website or by phone. “Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we complete these important bridge maintenance improvements,” the office said in a post.
