UNION TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Union Township trustees are scheduled to vote on zoning changes that would clear the way for two new subdivisions when the board meets Tuesday, Aug. 11.
The regular meeting begins at 6 p.m. at the Union Township Civic Center, 4350 Aicholtz Road, according to the agenda posted by the township. Trustees Joe Dills, chair; John Becker, vice chair; and Michael Logue make up the board.
The board will hold a public hearing on a zoning map amendment for Oaks at Ridgepointe, a proposed single-family development on 23.63 acres at 1062 Clough Pike. The request, filed by property owner Chris Henegar and agent Joe Farruggia of Beaver Creek Site Management, would rezone the site from R-1 single-family to R-4 single-family variable structure district, according to the agenda.
Trustees will also consider Bishops Grove, a 4.77-acre residential development proposed for two parcels on Shephard Road. Maddox Development Co., represented by engineer Carl G. Hartman, is seeking to rezone the property from R-2 to R-4 single-family variable structure district, the agenda states.
Two additional public hearings are scheduled on overlay district requests: a two-story shop with offices proposed by Abest Reg LLC at 1118 Ferris Road in Amelia, and two storage buildings proposed by Special Touch Landscaping at 1120 Ferris Road. Both applications include requests for setback reductions, according to the township.
In other business, trustees are expected to set 2026 Halloween trick-or-treat hours in Union Township for Saturday, Oct. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m., rain or shine.
The board will also discuss securing additional funding for preliminary engineering and design work on a proposed roundabout at the Mount Carmel-Tobasco and Clough Pike intersection, a project being advanced in partnership with the Clermont County Engineer’s Office and the Clermont County Transportation Improvement District.
Trustees are set to approve an easement allowing the Clermont County Board of Commissioners to dedicate permanent right-of-way along Aicholtz Road and reconstruct a box culvert near the Civic Center, according to the agenda.
The board’s legislative agenda includes resolutions authorizing the abatement of a junk vehicle on Blue Jacket Road and the removal of vegetation, garbage and debris from properties on Old State Route 74 and Wisnew Drive. Trustees are also expected to adopt the 2025 Clermont County Hazard Mitigation Plan and authorize an application to the Ohio Public Works Commission for slide repair projects in Union and Miami townships.
Personnel actions on the agenda include hiring Eric Lautenslager as a maintenance worker in the Service Department, effective Sept. 2, and promoting Service Department employee John Kiskaden Jr. to maintenance worker II, effective Aug. 12, both pursuant to the township’s collective bargaining agreement.
Union Township, established in 1811, is Clermont County’s largest and most populous township, with an estimated population of nearly 52,000, according to U.S. Census data. The Civic Center on Aicholtz Road, which houses the trustees’ meeting room along with Clermont Senior Services and other township offices, opened in 2004.
Trustees are next scheduled to meet Tuesday, Sept. 8. The Aug. 11 agenda also notes a Union Township Fireworks Celebration set for Saturday, Sept. 26, featuring live music, a touch-a-truck event and a fireworks display by Rozzi’s.
