JACKSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio — State Route 50 has reopened to traffic after being closed for several days because of storm damage, Jackson Township said in a Facebook post.
The Ohio Department of Transportation reopened the roadway, according to the township. The route had been closed in both directions between Monterey Road and state Route 133 since severe thunderstorms swept through the township Wednesday, snapping trees and limbs and downing power lines across the area.
Though the roadway is open, debris, utility crews and ongoing work may still be present, the township said. Officials urged drivers to use caution, slow down and give crews room to safely do their jobs as cleanup continues.
The storm knocked out power to roughly 40,000 Duke Energy customers countywide, according to the utility. The Clermont County Engineer’s Office separately closed several county-maintained roads in the area because of storm damage, including a stretch of Monterey Road between U.S. 50 and Newtonsville-Hutchinson Road.
Residents can check current state road closures and traffic conditions at ohgo.com/cincinnati or through the OHGO app, according to the township. Closures on county-maintained roads are tracked separately by the Clermont County Engineer’s Office at clermontengineer.org.
