UNION TOWNSHIP, Ohio — West Clermont Local Schools will hold four community forums this fall and winter to gather public input as the district’s Board of Education develops a long-term tax policy, the district announced in a social media post this week.
The sessions, titled “A West Clermont Community Conversation,” are scheduled for Oct. 22, Nov. 5, Nov. 18 and Dec. 3, each running from 6 to 8 p.m. at West Clermont High School, according to the district. Registration is required to attend.
“No decisions have been made, and there are no right answers,” the district said in announcing the sessions, describing them as “an honest conversation about the priorities that should guide West Clermont, from keeping students safe to making every dollar count.”
The district said attendees will be asked to weigh in on broad questions, including what kind of community residents want to leave for the next generation, what schools should provide for students and families, and what local tax dollars should make possible. Residents are encouraged to attend all four sessions, and the district said no financial expertise is required to participate.
West Clermont Local Schools serves about 8,100 students across seven elementary schools, one middle school and West Clermont High School, covering a 54-square-mile area that includes most of Union Township and parts of Batavia, Monroe and Pierce townships, according to the district. It is the 23rd-largest of Ohio’s more than 600 school districts and operates on an annual budget of about $74.9 million.
More than half of the district’s revenue comes from county property taxes, and West Clermont does not currently collect a school district income tax, according to the district. Under Ohio law, county auditors reassess property values every six years, a cycle that factors into how school levies are calculated and timed.
Dr. David Fultz has served as superintendent since Aug. 1, 2025, after 13 years with the district, including as principal of Brantner Elementary School and, most recently, as assistant superintendent and chief people officer. The West Clermont Board of Education is led by President Ryan Patton, along with members Jim Rudy, Michael Chumley, Tammy Spencer and Tina Sanborn.
