GOSHEN TOWNSHIP, Ohio — The Goshen Township Police Department will send officers to deliver Halloween candy to children who are unable to go trick-or-treating this year, the department said in a Facebook post.
Families with a child who cannot get out for trick-or-treat can message the department on Facebook or call 513-722-3200, and an officer will bring treats to the home between 6 and 8 p.m. on Oct. 31, according to the post. Requests must be submitted by 5 p.m. that day.
The department said it looks forward to the outreach every Halloween, teaming up with the Goshen Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, known as CPAAA, to hand out candy during trick-or-treat. CPAAA is a nonprofit support organization for the police department whose members also volunteer for community events such as parades and fundraisers, according to the group.
The Goshen Township Police Department has patrolled the 34-square-mile township of about 16,500 residents since 1971, providing round-the-clock law enforcement under what the department describes as a “Professional-Friendly Policing” approach. Chief Bob Rose, who was promoted to the department’s top post in 2016, has also served as Goshen Township’s public safety director and administrator since 2022, a role in which he additionally oversees the township’s fire, EMS, public works and planning and zoning operations, according to the township.
