WAYNE TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Marathon-Edenton Road will close to through traffic Nov. 3-5 while a contractor relocates a waterline ahead of the planned replacement of a bridge on the road, according to the Clermont County Engineer’s Office.
The closure is north of No. 9 Road, the engineer’s office said in a Facebook post. A posted detour of about 6.24 miles will route traffic around the work zone for the three-day closure.

The waterline relocation is preliminary work for the county’s planned replacement of the Marathon-Edenton Road bridge, listed as county bridge number C82-5.68 and county project WA-11-24, in Wayne Township. Commissioners voted Aug. 20 to authorize the engineer’s office to seek bids on the bridge replacement, with a legal notice advertised Aug. 27 and bids due by Sept. 17 through the Bid Express online bidding service, according to county meeting minutes.
Commissioners also accepted permanent easements from two property owners along the route on Sept. 9 to secure the right-of-way needed for the project, compensating James and Melanie Walters $1,125 and Peter and Katharine McBride $2,000, the minutes said.
The engineer’s office asked drivers to follow the posted detour and said it appreciated the public’s patience during the work.
