MILFORD, Ohio — The Milford Community Fire Department will send Santa Claus touring through the city’s neighborhoods atop one of its fire engines next month, continuing a long-running local holiday tradition known as Santa Sunday.
The department said in a Facebook post that the citywide tour is set for 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, with Engine 71 carrying Santa block by block through Milford so he can wave to residents and pass out treats to children.
The event follows the same format Milford has used in past years: Santa leaves his sleigh for a fire engine and is driven through each neighborhood in the city, handing out treat bags and greeting children along the route, according to past descriptions of the tour published by area officials.
The fire department operates out of Station 71 at 687-B U.S. Route 50 under Chief John E. Cooper Sr. and can be reached at its non-emergency line, 513-831-7777.
Santa Sunday falls during Milford’s broader holiday season, which this year also includes the Historic Milford Association’s Hometown for the Holidays festival in the city’s historic downtown Nov. 27-28, according to the association’s published schedule.
