AMELIA, Ohio — The Pierce Township Police Foundation will hold its annual food drive Nov. 14 at the Amelia Kroger, collecting non-perishable items to benefit Inter Parish Ministry’s food pantry, according to a flyer the Pierce Township Police Department shared on Facebook.
The drive runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the store, 262 W. Main St. Organizers are asking donors to bring canned goods, pasta, peanut butter and other shelf-stable items. The Pierce Township Police Foundation is registered as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, according to the flyer.
Donations collected at the event will go to Inter Parish Ministry, which operates a drive-through food pantry in Amelia along with a second site in Newtown. The nonprofit has served low-income residents across Clermont, eastern Hamilton and western Brown counties for nearly 60 years, running a “choice” pantry model that lets clients pick the food they need and a mobile pantry program that reaches dozens of additional distribution sites, according to the organization.
The Pierce Township Police Department, which the foundation supports, traces its roots to a single part-time constable in the 1950s. It has since grown into a full-time agency that patrols the township’s 23 square miles around the clock, with divisions covering investigations, crime prevention and bike patrol, according to the township.
