BATAVIA, Ohio — Clermont County closed several government offices, courts and services Wednesday because of power outages caused by severe storms that swept the region a day earlier, the county said in a Facebook post.
The Common Pleas Court and Common Pleas Clerk’s office, Domestic Relations Court, Public Defender’s office, Records Center, and Juvenile Court, along with the county’s probate and probation offices, were closed, according to the post. Permit Central and the Engineer Administration Building were also closed, though the county said highway crews would continue responding to storm damage.
The county’s Animal Shelter was closed to the public. The Public Health department remained closed except for its nursing division, which stayed open, the county said.
The closures follow severe thunderstorms that swept across Clermont County on Tuesday, knocking out power to about 40,000 Duke Energy customers and causing widespread tree and property damage, according to the utility.
The county said it would update the list of closures as more information became available and urged residents to check its Facebook page for the latest.
