BATAVIA TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Batavia Township trustees have awarded a new trash and recycling contract to Rumpke Waste & Recycling, a switch expected to lower monthly bills for residents starting this fall.

Trustees approved the agreement at their July 6 meeting, ending the township’s contract with Republic Services, which expires Oct. 31, according to the township. Rumpke service is scheduled to begin Nov. 1.

The new monthly rate will be $21.50, including weekly recycling pickup, down from the current $24.70 rate under Republic, the township said.
