BATAVIA, Ohio — Business, building and nonprofit owners in Clermont County have a new opportunity to revitalize their storefronts through a facade improvement grant program.
The Clermont County Port Authority opened applications July 1 for its Facade Improvement Program Pilot. The initiative aims to enhance the appearance of commercial areas across the county and support local businesses.
Eligible applicants include owners of commercial property in Clermont County, business owners (with property owner authorization) and nonprofit organizations that own or occupy commercial space in the county. Projects must be in low- and moderate-income areas as defined by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The program has a $100,000 budget, with grants up to $20,000 per project. Recipients must provide at least a 10% match. For example, on a $22,000 project, the grant would cover $19,800 with a $2,200 match from the applicant.
Eligible improvements include outdoor painting and updating historic facades. Interior renovations and new furniture are not permitted.
“It’s a chance to clean up your businesses and make a more uniform approach so that it is inviting for people to come into your towns,” Clermont County Commissioner Claire Corcoran said.
Corcoran highlighted small towns such as Bethel, New Richmond and parts of Milford as areas that could benefit.
Applications will be accepted until May 30, 2027.
