JACKSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Residents unsure who to call about a pothole, roadside ditch or other road problem can now look it up online, Jackson Township said in a Facebook post directing residents to a lookup tool from the Clermont County Engineer’s Office.
Not every road in the township is maintained by the same government. Depending on where a road sits, upkeep can fall to Jackson Township, the Clermont County Engineer, the Ohio Department of Transportation or, in some subdivisions, a private property owner or homeowners association, the township said.
The county engineer’s office has posted a searchable directory at clermontengineer.org listing county roads and identifying which agency is responsible for maintaining each one, letting residents check their street before calling in a complaint.
The office, based at 2381 Clermont Center Drive in Batavia, handles construction, planning, design and permitting for county and township roads, bridges and culverts across Clermont County. Jeremy P. Evans has led the office since the county Board of Commissioners appointed him acting engineer in July 2019; he was elected to the position in November 2024.
ODOT is responsible for state routes that run through the county, while villages and cities maintain streets within their own limits, according to the tool.
Knowing the correct road authority helps ensure a maintenance request reaches the right office as quickly as possible, the township said.
