BATAVIA, Ohio — Road crews will pave streets in Pierce and Batavia townships this weekend and begin building a new pedestrian crosswalk island on Glen-Este Withamsville Road next week, part of the Clermont County Engineer’s Office’s 2026 Road Resurfacing Program, the office said in a Facebook post.
Surface paving is scheduled Friday in Pierce Township and Batavia Township, along with curb restoration work, according to the engineer’s office. Paving continues Saturday in Batavia Township.
Crews will then shift to a crosswalk island project on Glen-Este Withamsville Road, starting with demolition Sunday, followed by curb and sidewalk forms Monday and concrete placement for the curbs and sidewalks Tuesday. Workers will prepare the subgrade Wednesday before pouring concrete for the island itself Thursday, the office said.
Separately, crews plan to demolish curb along Amelia-Olive Branch Road from Tuesday through Friday, July 31, according to the engineer’s office. The road runs through both Batavia and Pierce townships, part of the area absorbed by the two townships after the village of Amelia dissolved in 2019.
The engineer’s office cautioned drivers to use caution in work zones and watch for crews and equipment. The dates and locations are tentative and subject to change because of weather or other unforeseen conditions, the office said.
The resurfacing program is one of the county engineer’s largest annual undertakings, funded primarily through Ohio’s per-gallon gasoline tax and vehicle registration fees, which are split among the state’s 88 counties. Jeremy P. Evans, the elected Clermont County Engineer serving a term through Dec. 31, 2028, oversees the office, which maintains roughly 400 miles of county roads along with area bridges, culverts and guardrails.
