BATAVIA, Ohio — Power has been restored to most of the Batavia area, and all Clermont County government offices reopened to the public Friday for normal operations beginning at 8 a.m., the county said in an update.
About a dozen county offices had been closed to the public Wednesday and Thursday because of storm-related power outages, according to the county.
At the peak of the outages, roughly 40,000 homes and businesses in Clermont County lost power after heavy wind and rain knocked down power lines earlier in the week, the county said.
The Village of Batavia has closed the cooling center it had opened for residents without power. Anyone still in need of assistance was directed to call the Batavia Police Department at 513-732-5692, which can reopen the village Armory for residents, according to the update.
The National Weather Service is forecasting additional rain Friday for the Greater Cincinnati area, and a flood watch remains in effect through midday, the county said.
