BATAVIA, Ohio — Main Street will close to traffic Sunday, Nov. 8, for Clermont County’s annual Veterans Day parade, which steps off at 2 p.m. from Haskell Lane and travels east through downtown Batavia to Fifth Street, according to a post from the village.
The Clermont County Veterans Service Commission organizes the parade each year. Participants are scheduled to assemble on Haskell Lane starting at 1 p.m., with an opening ceremony at 1:30 p.m. on the steps of the Clermont County Courthouse before the parade route carries marchers past the courthouse and through the village’s business district.
Retired Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. Steve Balczo, the commission’s executive director, is this year’s keynote speaker. The commission itself is serving as grand marshal.
The village said exact road closure times will be posted to its Facebook page once they are confirmed, and it encouraged families to find a spot along Main Street to watch the parade and thank a veteran.
Batavia, the seat of Clermont County government, is home to roughly 2,000 residents, according to U.S. Census Bureau estimates.
The information contained in this story was obtained from the Village of Batavia and the Clermont County Veterans Service Commission.
