MILFORD, Ohio — The city’s Water Department will shut off service to part of Lila Avenue and a home on Mohawk Trail on Sept. 8 to replace a water main valve, the city said.
The shutoff is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will affect addresses from 914 to 930 Lila Ave. and 726 Mohawk Trail, according to a notice the city posted on Facebook.
Residents and businesses in those addresses should keep faucets closed during the work to prevent flooding when service is restored, the city said. Water may run cloudy or discolored for a short time once service resumes, a common effect when air and mineral sediment are disturbed inside distribution pipes during valve work.
Milford’s water department has supplied the city’s drinking water since 1936. The system draws from four groundwater wells along the Little Miami River, each capable of producing up to 550 gallons per minute, and serves more than 6,000 customers, according to the city. Treated water is stored in two elevated tanks with a combined capacity of 795,000 gallons before it’s distributed through the city’s mains.
Questions about the Sept. 8 shutoff can be directed to Zach Robb in the city’s Water Department at (513) 831-6819, according to the notice.
