GOSHEN TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A student-run news program at Goshen High School received a $10,000 community grant to expand its broadcast studio and streaming equipment, the district said.

The Goshen News Network, a journalism class in which students produce video news segments, won the grant from Connect Clermont, a community services organization that connects resources to Clermont County residents. The Goshen Education Foundation applied for the grant on GNN’s behalf and presented students with the check at the Good Deeds Clermont Celebration on Nov. 7, 2024, at Grant Career Center, according to the district.

In its application, the Goshen Education Foundation described GNN as more than a class, saying the program helps fill a “news desert” in the Goshen community by producing segments on local businesses and building partnerships with community leaders, the district said.

GNN plans to use the money to complete its studio setup, adding a teleprompter, additional green screens, lavalier microphones, cameras and SD cards. The program also intends to build a permanent streaming center with a ring light, a computer and a mobile cart, according to the district.

GNN adviser Emily Slagle and members of the Goshen Education Foundation accepted the grant at the ceremony, the district said.
