BETHEL, Ohio — The Bethel-Tate Board of Education has voted to place a five-year renewal levy on the Nov. 3 ballot, asking voters to continue funding the district’s day-to-day operations without a tax increase.
The measure would renew an existing fixed-sum operating levy that voters first approved in May 2021, according to the district. It would continue to generate about $1.51 million a year for the district, the same amount raised by the current levy.
Because the levy is collected as a fixed sum, the millage needed to produce that amount shifts as property values change. The renewal has been certified at 5.48 mills, or roughly $192 a year for every $100,000 of county auditor market value on a property, the district said.
If voters approve the measure, collections would begin in 2027.
Revenue from the levy goes toward the district’s general operating costs, including classroom instruction, staffing, student services, transportation, utilities, supplies and maintenance, according to the district.
