JACKSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A stretch of U.S. Route 50 in Jackson Township is closed for an indefinite period after what fire officials called a serious crash Saturday.
The Stonelick Township Fire Department said in a Facebook post that U.S. 50 is shut down between Smokey Road and Fomorin Road because of the wreck and urged drivers to avoid the area while crews work the scene.
No additional details about the crash, including whether anyone was injured, had been released as of Saturday evening.
U.S. 50 is the main east-west route through Jackson Township, a rural, agricultural community of roughly 3,100 residents in northeastern Clermont County. The township was formed in 1834 from parts of Stonelick, Wayne and Williamsburg townships and named for then-President Andrew Jackson, according to township records. The closed stretch runs through farmland between Batavia and Williamsburg.
Drivers traveling U.S. 50 through the area should expect delays and plan alternate routes until the road reopens.
