BATAVIA TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Batavia Township residents began receiving postcards Monday announcing that Rumpke is shuffling trash and recycling pickup days for dozens of subdivisions starting Nov. 1, the result of a route evaluation the hauler conducted over the past month.
Rumpke reviewed its routes through the township to cut travel time on local roads, reduce disruptions to daily commutes and improve overall efficiency, according to the township. The change comes less than a month after Rumpke took over as the township’s hauler, replacing Republic Services under a contract the board of trustees awarded in July.
For residents whose collection day is shifting, the township is setting up temporary overflow dumpsters from Nov. 2 through Nov. 5 at two locations: 2401 Old State Route 32, at the township service and fire departments, and 4428 Olive Branch Stonelick Road, at the BP station. The township said the dumpsters are available if needed, not required.

According to the postcard notification the township shared, the new collection days by subdivision starting Nov. 1 are:
- Monday: Amelia Park, Burnham Woods, Heritage Farms, Mt. Holly Preserve, Stable Trails, Stonegate, Woodbrook, Whispering Trees
- Tuesday: Billingsley, Bristol Lake (off Bristol Lake Drive/AOB), Chapel Woods, Crosspointe, Crossgates, Estrella, Hanger Flats, Meadow Green, Presidential off Clough, Olivewood, Summit Crossing, Sycamore Creek (split with Thursday), Twin Gates, Village in the Woods
- Wednesday: Batavia Lakes, Carriage Station, Foxpointe, Forest Glen, Forest Grove, Glenwood Trails, Pleasant Acres/View, Presidential off Judd, Rosewood, Shaker Meadows
- Thursday: Bristol Lake (off Shorewood), Braxton Park, Buxton Meadows, Cedar Hill, Cedar Trace, Confederate Hills, Meghans Run, Peace Haven/Rapture, Sycamore Creek (split with Tuesday), Vista Meadows
- Friday: County Place, Derby Place, Lexington Run, Tall Trees, Waterford Estates, Woodbury Glen
The township directed residents with questions about the new schedule to the notice mailed to their homes.
Trustees Randy Perry, Rex Parsons and Danielle Wessel oversee the township alongside fiscal officer Jennifer Haley, according to the township’s website. Rumpke, founded in 1932 by William F. Rumpke and based in Colerain Township near Cincinnati, is one of the largest privately held waste and recycling haulers in the region.
